Music was my safe-haven. Math as well, oddly. Or not oddly; let's normalize nerdom. Music and numbers just made sense to me when most other things didn't. Sounds irrelevant, I know, but the love of music led to me picking up instruments and finding out that I was decent at creating. The love of numbers led to the realization that I was good at calculating, resulting in high test scores. That combo gained me acceptance into a magnet school for the arts and technology where I learned new ways to create, like with photography, filmmaking, audio engineering, graphic design, even bridge building. Fast-forward to college as a finance major, I learned how to blend creation and business by operating a recording studio out of my dorm room. I wasn't exactly making Zuckerberg-level profits on that venture, but it was enough to cover overpriced textbooks and the occasional fast-casual dining splurge. {insert a plethora of young adult life events}. My professional life now involves directing business intelligence missions for a company specializing in diversity, equity, & inclusion, where I'm able to blend visuals and numbers in incredibly interesting and rewarding ways. On the side, I also create for myself and others in various mediums. Eternal curiosity is the coolest gift ever. I attempt to do things that allow that gift to flourish.
